Transformational Coaching

Transformational coaching is more than just supporting you to achieve a specific goal. It’s a journey of self-discovery and inner growth. For example, I work with clients to identify specific areas of their lives that they wish to improve—whether personal, professional, or both. But the deeper focus is on connecting you to your inner wisdom in order to discover who you really are, so your goals reflect your most authentic expression.

Over 70% of people who invest in coaching report improved work performance, relationships, and overall well-being. This statistic highlights the power of coaching as a transformational tool. However, many people are still unsure about what to expect.

What Are the Benefits of Transformational Coaching?

Transformational coaching provides numerous benefits that can significantly enhance your quality of life. Here are some key advantages:

1. Clarity of Vision

Many individuals feel lost due to a lack of clear goals. Transformational coaching helps you identify and articulate what you truly want, supporting you to create a more intentional life. For instance, through cultivating greater self-awareness and self-reflection, transformational coaching can help you refine your aspirations, leading to more fulfilling life goals.

2. Enhanced Self-Awareness

Transformation happens when you understand yourself on a deeper level. Transformational coaching helps you become more aware of your strengths, weaknesses, and the limiting beliefs and patterns that hold you back. This increased self-awareness leads to better decision-making and life choices.

3. Accountability and Support

Having someone hold you accountable without judgement, can be a powerful motivator. The work I do with clients encourages aligning your goals with your most authentic self-expression, while providing you with deeper insights to reflect upon. For instance, if you’re working on a fitness regime and struggling with staying committed, we'll look at the deeper reasons for your lack of motivation rather than just focusing on surface issues.

4. Empowerment

Transformational coaching focuses on empowering you to take ownership for what you really want from life. Own it, claim it, don't shy away from it. You're guided to find the answers within yourself and to look at where you're chasing inauthentic goals that don't really align with who you are. This empowers you to develop greater self-confidence and self-belief that supports you further. in achieving your goals.

5. Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

All of us have experienced limiting beliefs that block us from expressing our full potential. Which is why I place such a significant focus on identifying those limiting beliefs and transforming them into powerful co-creators. Thus allowing you to break free from those self-imposed barriers. This inner transformation can lead to new, more aligned opportunities coming your way and feelings of excitement rather than fear when pursuing your goals.

What is The Focus of Transformational Coaching?

Transformational coaching is centred around the idea of inner transformation. It goes beyond traditional coaching methods by focusing on the outer expression of inner growth.

This focus encourages deep reflection and exploration of your values, beliefs, and life experiences. Transformational coaching asks probing questions that challenge you to think deeply and reconsider your established thought patterns. For example, I might ask, "What is that hesitancy in your voice whenever you speak about achieving that goal? What is it really pointing to?"

The approach is holistic and tailored to you individual needs. Transformational coaching integrates various methods such as mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral tools, and in my case, a focus on increasing your self-love, self-awareness and self-forgiveness. Much of what we wish to experience can be hard to achieve because we don't feel worthy, or haven't forgiven ourselves or others, for something that caused us great pain in the past.

How to get the most out of Transformational Coaching

Finding a coach who is a good fit for you:

1. Define Your Goals

Start by defining what you want to achieve through transformational coaching. Are you seeking to be more confident, advance in your career, or cultivate healthier relationships? Identifying your goals will help you connect with a coach who aligns with both you and your goals.

2. Research Potential Coaches

Look for coaches who actively demonstrate their expertise and whose message resonates with you and align with your values. Looking at their content, interviews, reviews and testimonials can help you with that.

3. Schedule Discovery Calls

Many coaches offer free discovery sessions. Use this opportunity to gauge their coaching style and see if it aligns with your needs. Prepare questions to ask about their approach, thei experience, and what you can expect from the coaching relationship.

4. Assess Compatibility

The relationship between you and your coach should be built on trust and mutual respect. Pay attention to how you feel during the discovery call. If you feel comfortable and understood, and relaxed, that's a positive sign.

5. Make a Commitment

Once you’ve chosen a coach, commit to the process. Coaching is not just about attendance; it requires openness and honesty. Be prepared to open up about where you're really at rather than trying to present a brave face for best results.

Success Stories: How Coaching Transforms Lives

The impact of Transformational coaching is exemplified in numerous success stories from individuals who have taken the leap into coaching.

For example, one of my clients came to me for coaching because she was embarking on a new career and didn't want to engage in self-sabotage. Our sessions initially focused on exploring where that self-sabotage stemmed from. My client came to me thinking she self-sabotaged because she didn't believe in herself enough. During coaching we discovered that it was in fact the opposite. She did believe in herself, but feared success would take over her life and leave her with no time to be creative and playful - which she valued highly.

Another client struggled with anxiety and low self-esteem. Getting to the root of that anxiety, my client discovered that they had internalised the constant criticism they faced from their parent. Criticism that didn't stop even when my client became successful. This recognition allowed them to explore what might have been at the root of that parent's criticism . They were able to give themselves evidence that the criticism was actually a reflection of their parent's own internal dialogue.
